Everything You Want to Know about Plasma Devices

Motion of the CNC plasma cutting system is directly responsible for the cut quality regardless what kind of plasma cutter you are using.

What is Plasma
Plasma is called the fourth state of matter. The other three states are solid, liquid and gas. When the gas is heated or something from outside is applied on the gas, the gas gets ionized and it creates the plasma. In short, it is better to say, ionized form of gas is known as plasma. Electricity is conducted by plasma. Plasma is a very hot component.

Where Do Plasma Exists
Apart from being created artificially, plasma exists in nature too. The aura which is around the sun is also known as plasma. Plasma is the reason we feel heat on our earth.

What Is Plasma Torch
When the plasma is generated in specially designed torch, it is called Plasma Torch or CNC plasma cutting machines . Electrical power is used for various engineering application that includes metal cutting. This process is defined as plasma cutting. The popularity of plasma cutting is increasing everyday. Plasma cutting is possible on all conducting metals including SS, AL, MS, Copper, Brass, Inconel and Monel etc.

Five Important Points of CNC Plasma Cutter
  • Inverted gear rack and pinion.
  • V-Groove bearings and guide.
  • Z-Axis Optical Proximity Sensor.
  • Finding the material surface using ohmic clip or pressure.
  • Automatic Torch Height Control or ATHC.
Process of Plasma Cutting Machine
By using the plasma cutting process, all kinds of materials can be cut. For the purpose of steel cutting, plasma cutting is known as the most popular process. In the Plasma Torch device, the plasma arc is generated. Compressed air, Argon, Nitrogen, Argon with combination of Hydrogen are used as plasma gas in the Plasma devices.
